Friday 25th May 2018

If you've heard of Liverpool, you're sure to know a few of the things the city is famous for, one of them being its docks. Those docks are not consigned to history however, they're very much in use, and every year they become the beating heart of a celebration of the region - The International Mersey River Festival. This festival regularly attracts tall ships big and small from all over Europe and in 2018 will become host to the beginning of a quite spectacular event - The Three Cities Tall Ships Regatta. You may see it called the Mersey River Festival 2018, or you may see it called Tall Ships Liverpool 2018 - all we know is they're one and the same and you really can't afford to miss it! The event comes 10 years after an estimated million spectators flocked to the waterfront to see the ships in the hotly-contested competition during Capital of Culture year. Enjoy a fantastic leisurely day in the seaside town of Scarborough with stunning scenery, glorious beaches and plenty to see and do - is it any wonder that people have been flocking to Scarborough for nearly 400 years? Scarborough is a story of many 'firsts'. The town became known as probably the world's first seaside resort back in the 1600s, when the health-giving properties of the Spa waters were discovered. Bathing machines to preserve swimmers' modesty as they took to the sea were first seen here. And by the mid-1800s, with the coming of the railways and the popularity of sea bathing on the rise, Scarborough was the venue for two of the world's first purpose-built hotels, The Grand and The Crown. Despite its rich history, Scarborough doesn't live in the past. The town is constantly innovating to keep its place as one of the most popular seaside destinations in the UK
